I just purchased my 1984 SVO, and the previous owner has "rigged" the cooling fan to run continously. I believe this is what makes it rev so high at a stop .It rev's to about 2800 rpm's at a red light. It also has a huge plug(male end) on the lower radiator hose. What is this plug for? I think it has to do with the cooling temperature sensor. Am I right, and how can I remedy this so that the fan cycles as it should in rythym with the thermostat? Please help,

Throttle Position Sensor is why it revs so high at a red light. It sets at .9 , if it will not set there you need to replace it. Not sure about the cooling issue.

Have you confirmed that there is even a thermostat in it ? ?

The fan came on at a high set temp for the factory/AND when you turned on AC.

If the new temp sender is set low or not working it might run all the time also.
You probably will have to figure out, if the AC cut in is still working, if the fan is wirered directly, and if the sensor works.

P.S. All this because people don't spend the money for the factory controller,or wires melted due to the high amps that go through this circut
