View Full Version : SVO HEAD Installation **UPDATE**

My fellow SVO brethren.....you may recall the original head on my 84 SVO developed some issues a few months back. Aside from blowing the head gasket between cylinders 3 & 4, I managed to crack the head in two places. One was easily repairable while the other....not so much.
Thus, what to do?? I know!! Call upon my SVO brothers for support and guidance. After gathering some advice I turned to my good friend Mark Haas (a.k.a. TheSVOTrust). What happened next is nothing short of amazing. Mark knows several Ford engineers, racers and EX-racers. It was one of Fords EX-racers who had a BRAND NEW...NEVER INSTALLED...NEVER USED...VIRGIN SVO head..................and was willing to sell it!!!
Long story made longer, Mark obtained the head for me and ADDED a NEW SVO cam, followers, valves, keepers, springs, etc., etc. Mark then BUILT a custom wooden box that protected the head/compnents like a GLOVE!!! I have a buddy who works for Fed-Ex and he arranged to ship the box across country and deliver to my house..for $7!!! As the attached will show the NEW/VIRGIN SVO head is installed with a Fel-Pro head gasket and brand new Fel-Pro head bolts. (Was gonna use head studs but saving those for a HOPPED -UP SVO motor in the future.)
Cannot begin to tell you what a CLASS ACT Mark Haas is, and has ALWAYS been since I obtined my SVO in August 2010.
THANK YOU MARK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta tell you Doug - a big part of the interest and help is due to the way YOU handled yourself when coming to us years ago !!

It is a 100%/100% thing on the internet ! When member see someone "only joining to sell something" OR ****ing battles ensuing due to misunderstandings early on - NO ONE wants to help.

I'm just glad you didn't post how much you got all this stuff for from me ! LOL http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e136/svo2scj/photo_zps4e5e7113.jpg (http://s38.photobucket.com/user/svo2scj/media/photo_zps4e5e7113.jpg.html)

P.S. That "crate" was (as Elvis would say) "A thing of beauty" (Thank you - THANK YOU VERY MUCH!)

Mark, after looking at the pictures you posted, WHICH, you texted to me when arranging this deal, it makes me realize EVEN MORE, how very grateful and fortunate I am. The main reason my SVO is where it is today is, WITHOUT A DOUBT, because of the guidance and support received from this site. I belong to a separate site for my 1975 Ford F-250 Highboy 4X4, and while a good site, it simply does not have the "feel" this site has. You and a few key others are the reason I've actually kept my SVO and NOT gone back to more high-winding small block V8 Fords!! And for those who read this........the amount I paid for the head and ALL else you see in Mark's photos was TRULY a deal of a lifetime. Like one of those super rare 'barn finds.' Had a guy on EBay who wanted almost as much for a VERY USED SVO head !! I cannot express how genuinely grateful I am!! THANK YOU MARK!!!!!!!!!!
